Terms of Use

These terms explain how you may use Roof Repair Guides For You. By reading the guides on this site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What this site is for

Roof Repair Guides For You publishes general educational guides about common roof problems, written in plain language for homeowners who want to understand a roof problem before talking to a roofer. You may read the guides and use them to learn about roof problems, to prepare questions for a roofer, and to understand a quote.

Educational information only

The guides are general educational information only. They are not professional advice, they are not a diagnosis of a specific roof, and they are not a substitute for an in-person professional inspection. A guide cannot tell you whether your roof is safe, what repairs your roof needs, or what those repairs should cost.

No warranty

The guides are provided as they are, without any warranty of any kind. Roof conditions, materials, building codes, and weather vary, so information that applies in one situation may not apply in yours. This site does not promise that any guide is complete, current, or suitable for your roof.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for how you use the information on this site. Do not attempt work that is unsafe for you, and do not rely on a guide in place of advice from a qualified professional. For unsafe or structural work, including sagging roofs or ceilings, cracked or bowed timbers, water damage near electrical wiring, and damage near power lines, hire a licensed professional and follow their advice.

Stay safe

Roof work at height is dangerous. Never climb onto a wet, icy, steep, or damaged roof, and never work near damaged power lines. If you are unsure whether a roof is safe to approach, stay on the ground and ask a licensed professional.
